Forties purses were crafted with special detail and design. The clasp is an example of the combination of filigree and bead work that emanates strength and beauty.
On both the front and back pink and blue flowers and lilac buds are sewn over the purse. A lattice pattern of clear beads is also inlaid and creates intricacy and elevates this to art. White seed beads are the base element. A gold tone handle measures 4″. It was meant to be worn slipped on the wrist or held by the chain. The outside does not show any apparent bead loss. The interior is satin lined in matching ivory and shows some staining. The major is at the bottom where a pencil may have been placed in the purse.
