Hundreds of perfectly sewn beads in a perfectly scalloped pattern adorn this stunning top from the Roaring Twenties.
The design of the top is simple which lends to its perfection. My favorite feature is the way it drapes on the figure especially around the hips.It looks heavy but it isn’t… not for the amount of beading. To me, the quality of the beadwork says FRANCE but it is not labeled.
Shown flat (pic), it measures 25″ from top to bottom. The top is a kaftan-style. The neckline is 10 1/2″ across. The shoulder span is 16″. The waist is 30″. There are snaps that open at the waist with a hook and eye for closure (pic). A gentle curved hemline and four darts define the simple elegance of the piece. The model is small.
One line of beadwork has begun to pick off and is secured with a pin (pic). There are stains on the sleeves which are probably due to perspiration as they are located right at the crease of the armhole area (pic). The stains are vertical and appear as darkened spots. They are virtually unseen when worn due to their placement.
Very good condition for its age and elegance.
